What is coaching

Coaching is a way of treating people, a way of thinking and a way of being. The purpose of coaching is building the self-belief of others - to be curious and self-aware, better equipping them to collaborate, innovate and deal with the increasing pace of change.

Effective coaching is future focussed, releases potential, and enables change for individual growth and business improvement.

When might I use this skill?

Every day! In quick conversations and in longer conversations such as 1-2-1s. This skill is for everyone, not just line managers. It can make any conversation more effective by getting real clarity on a situation before trying to problem solve.

And if you're a line manager, this will be a great skill to empower your teams to come to their own decisions.
