Aim:

To develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become fully skilled in your technician role.

Duration:

12 months + work based learning programme including 2 training session days per month.

Mineral & Construction Sampling & Testing Operations Programme (PODP)

You will gain all the H&S knowledge you require to operate safely, while understanding the principles of road building. You will also gain training on powered tools and mobile plant to support you to be a strong part of your gang. This programme is suitable for new technicians across all environments including:

Aggregate processing	Concrete manufacturing
Asphalt manufacturing	Packed products
Block manufacturing	Precast and prestressed
Cement

You will have reached Gateway once you have:

Attended and passed all of your workshops
Completed all of your coursework
Completed all 5 workbooks
Achieved your Vocational Qualification
Passed Level 1 English and Maths and at least worked towards and sat Level 2
Updated your portfolio in Learning Assistant
Had your 20% off the job hours have been met and approved

When this is all done, you have reached what is known as the Gateway, which is where you, your line manager and training manager will decide if you are ready to take the End Point Assessment (EPA).
